Homecoming 2009
by Gail
A Very Nearly Wordless Wednesday

As homeschooled students, my girls wouldn’t normally have a homecoming dance to attend, but every year their public-schooled friends from church thoughtfully invite them. They always go as a group and that makes me feel a little better about the situation. This was Clara’s first homecoming dance. She was very excited about picking out a dress and spending the day at her friend’s house getting ready. They had dinner at her friend’s house, so I went over and took pictures. This photo of her on the way to the dance in the back seat of our car was one of my favorites. Oh, how they grow…

She is beautiful. And so are you, dear friend! So good to *see* you again… xo
she’s beautiful!!!!
Your daughter is beautiful! And you take great pictures!
I am reminded that my own daughters will be grown up like that too soon. Off to cuddle them!
Gail, they do grow up so fast…it’s amazing… you have a beautiful daughter who has obviously had a fantastic mother.
What a great blog! You’ve done a lovely job, and I really like your photos. I’m curious as to what your daughter said after her night at the dance. Did she have a nice time, and did she feel “comfortable” the whole time? My oldest is only 12, but I know I’m going to be facing these situations at some point. Thanks!
BlessedMama, when my oldest daughter went to the homecoming dances, she went with a tight-knit group of friends from church and they stuck together during the dance. Unfortunately, when Clara went, she went with her best friend from church who had just gone from being homeschooled to starting public high school this fall. She had a handful of new friends from school that she and Clara met up with at the dance. Even though Clara had a nice time, she did run into something rather disturbing that we are still praying about. Clara is fine, but we are rather concerned about a girl she met there. I think that next year she will either have to go with a larger group of church friends or she will have to forgo the event altogether.
I can see why it’s one of your favorites. She’s stunning.
Hello Firefly,
Your daughter is lovely.
